It’s been an exciting November for EXO Vietnam! Maeve has just returned from a successful WTM, EXO became a certified B Corporation and high season is off to a booming start with many happy travellers on the ground!
Our latest update this month, we’ve featured a new experience in Hoi An which allows guests to learn about the power of Vietnamese herbs at an organic farm. A short, condensed experience, this allows for those with shorter time or don’t wish a full half day cooking class.
Also hot off the press, a wonderful 2-day family tour in Ninh Binh has been created this month. Where wildlife conservation meets natural wonders, visiting a Bear rescue centre, a gibbon rehabilitation project and sightseeing of lesser known caves in Ninh Binh by boat.

Hô Island, a hidden gem in Tra Vinh, Mekong Delta.
Maeve and Tam from the product team recently inspected this charming island of ‘Ho’, home to friendly locals who promote sustainable tourism. Unique to the region as the locals are living ‘off the grid’ (no electricity) plus there are no roads, which add to its rustic charm. The experience is currently being added to overnight Delta tours, as the distance is too far from Saigon for a full day trip.
Sustainable Food System in Hospitality Events
This month Ms Ha, in charge of all things Sustainable at EXO Vietnam, had the opportunity to learn how the hospitality industry is leading the way in eco-conscious dining practices in the country and how local tourism suppliers can benefit from sustainable practices.
Street Food Tours: Guide Training
Maeve recently conducted three back-to-back training sessions for the Hanoi guides on the street food health and safety and etiquette. Almost 60 guides attended the training which highlighted the growing demand for street food tours in Hanoi and the importance of hygiene, plus how best to manage guests’ expectations.
Hue & Hoi An Flooding
Incessant downpours and an influx of water from the Huong River caused flooding in Hue City mid-November for two days. The deluge submerged areas in over a metre of water resulting in some EXO guests to remain indoors, whilst others were safely transferred to the airport (part by boat) in light spirits. Fortunately, the flooding in nearby Hoi An was less severe.

- Bamboo Airways: announced at the end of October the suspension of all international routes from both Europe and Australia to “ensure resources and prioritise operational efficiency” This is frustrating news for travellers and agents alike due to the company’s financial issues. Note all bookings have been actioned by our ticketing and sales department. Although fewer bookings on the domestic routes, some bookings have been re-booked on VNA. Updates from the airline on resumption of routes will be advised.
